Asia

Asia is experiencing very significant economic development, together with environmental and climate challenges. The dynamism of its universities, innovation and research makes it a key region for international cooperation. Faithful to their missions to support major industrial revolutions and societal changes and to train engineers capable of tackling them, ParisTech schools are opening their recruitment to a dozen new regions or countries in Asia.

One of ParisTech's main missions is to enable its member schools to recruit top overseas students through its international admission programs. ParisTech has been present for more than 20 years in China, where over 1400 engineering students, and nearly 200 PhD candidates have been recruited and admitted at one of our schools.

ParisTech has also explored cooperation opportunities in other Asian countries such as India (agreement signed with a network of 7 IITs in 2010), Vietnam and Singapore. In Japan and South Korea, exchange agreements signed with the Tokyo Institute of Technology (TokyoTech) and the Korean Advanced Institute of Science & Technology (KAIST) are still active.

2021 marks a new step: ParisTech opens its ParisTech International Admission Program to candidates from all Asia, and particularly from Cambodia, South Korea, Hong-Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Laos, Macao, Malaysia, Taiwan, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.

ParisTech schools will thus be able to diversify the profile of international students recruited in their engineering degrees, and promote the excellence of French engineering training to a new audience. Successful candidates will benefit from a unique opportunity to study engineering in France, in highly internationalized schools. Offering multidisciplinary and tailor-made, both practical and theoretical curricula, French engineering degrees aim at training future leaders in all fields of industry, business and innovation.

ParisTech schools have also developed bilateral relations in this part of the world, for example with the Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT), POSTECH or Hanyang University in South Korea, Kyoto University in Japan, or the National University of Singapore.

The Asia-Pacific region hosts more than 7,000 subsidiaries of French companies, the share of French exports to the region increased by 55% between 2008 and 2018. French research organizations are also very present there (IRD, CIRAD, CNRS, Institut Pasteur...). The intensification of commercial and human exchanges offers great opportunities for engineers with management skills trained in our schools, capable of strengthening ties between their countries of origin and France.
