Public policy and development (PPD)

Advantage of the programme

  • The program provides a balanced mix of academic courses introducing the methodological and conceptual frameworks, primarily at M1 level, and specialist and applied courses at M2 level

  • Special emphasis is placed on the acquisition of modern techniques of assessing public policy (microeconomic tools, quantitative methods,…). However, all the disciplines that contribute to the understanding and assessment of these policies are tackled: history, political sciences, sociology, the expertise of government practitioners.

  • Most of the teaching staff are affiliated to CEPREMAP, to French government agencies or international organizations, and therefore play an active role in the design and evaluation of public policies.

Jointly accredited by EHESS, ENS and École des Ponts-ParisTech, labeled by the Paris School of Economics and supported by the Development Research Institute (IRD), the French Development Agency (AFD), the  Centre for Economic Research and its Applications (CEPREMAP), and the Jameel-Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL Europe), the PPD Masters program trains experts in the design, analysis, and assessment of public action, in both developed and developing countries.

This program develops skills in the assessment of public action in developed or developing countries, drawing on the resources of the Jourdan campus research labs (Paris-Jourdan Economics Research Unit and INRA’s Applied Economics Lab).
